Save Money With Homemade Play Doh

No kids will hate play-doh. My kids love to play play-doh a lot. I always bought them new sets every time we are having a trip to the toy store. However, I felt like this act eats a chunk in our budget, which made me think to make one.

I have tried air-dry clay recipes and I do not think this is the kind of dough I am looking for. I tried searching online for Homemade Playdoh and to my surprise, I got an overwhelming result. I followed a homemade play-doh recipe that gives the result I really love. I guess it is better than the store-bought play-doh. This homemade play-doh is so soft, not sticky, and easy to mold.

If you are into making your own homemade playdough or shall we say play-doh, below is the recipe I followed.

2 cups flour
2 cups warm water
1 cup salt
2 Tablespoons vegetable oil
1 Tablespoon cream of tartar (optional)
food coloring

Once you already have all the ingredients mentioned above, mix them all and cook over low heat stirring constantly. When the dough started to thicken and resembles the consistency of mashed potatoes, pulls out from the side and clumps in the center of the pot, remove the pot from heat and let it cool.

When the dough is cool enough to handle, start kneading until silky smooth. Color your dough as desired. When you are done kneading and satisfied with the color, you can now start playing with your homemade play dough or store it in an airtight container.

My kids love the consistency a lot that they cannot help but play until the colors are combined. Even my 12-year-old mid schooler plays with his younger siblings.
